50% of households in the sample report earning middle or high income, about 23% have incomes below or near the poverty line. A number live in ALICE household. The remaining just over 50% of households earn middle or high income. The poverty status distribution of the weighted sample is similar to the overall Hawaii population, with a slightly higher share of people living in households below the poverty line and slightly fewer ALICE households. The ALICE threshold reference data is from 2022 while waves 3-5 of the survey data were collected in 2023 and 2024 which may influence the reliability of the comparison.
