Mental healthcare services affected by barriers

The overwhelming majority of respondents (about 80%) who reported issues with accessing mental healthcare could not get therapy/counseling services. Inadequate access to psychiatrists was more frequently mentioned by participants above the age of 35. Older age groups (65+) also reported substantially greater barriers to urgent mental healthcare access. Access to urgent mental healthcare as well as psychiatrists is also disproportionately common among people with incomes below or near the poverty line.
